  • 简介:Meltsofleadbismuthgallatecompositionsarehighlycorrosiveandattackoncruciblesofdifferentmaterials.Inthepresentstudy,corrosionbyabaseglass(50PbO-30Bi2O3-20Ga2O3inmolefraction)meltedusingdifferentcruciblesandtheeffectonUV-VISandIRedgeswerestudied.Bymeltingthebaseglassinplatinum/2%rhodium,goldzirconiaandaluminacruciblesshowedlesseffectontheIRedgeandthereforeshiftedtheinfrarededgetolongerwavelength,whereassilicacruciblecontaminatedtheglass,causingaseveredeteriorationintheinfraredandhenceshiftedinfrarededgetomuchshorterwavelength.IntheUV-VISregion,baseglassmeltedinplatinum/2%rhodiumcrucibleshiftedtheedgetothelongestwavelengthwhereassilicacrucibleshiftedtheedgetoshorterwavelength.Thecontaminantsfromgold,zirconiaandaluminacruciblescausedtheUV-VISedgeofthebaseglasstoliebetweenthetwoextremesofPt/2%RhandSiO2crucibles.Theglassesmeltedinabovementionedcrucibleswerealsocharacterizedwithinductivelycoupledplasmaspectroscopy(ICP)analysistomeasurethelevelofcontaminationfromthecrucibles.Dependinguponcrucibleused,thecolorsofglassesobtainedrangedfromredtoyellow.

  • 简介:SpectroscopicmethodsareusedtoinvestigatecoordinationstructureofN-picolylpolyurethanetransitionmetalcomplexes(PUPYM,M=Co^2+andNi^2+).Geometricalarrangementofligandsinfirst-shellcoordinationsphereofmetalionsispostulatedtobetetrahedralCoL2Cl2andoctahedralNiL2-Cl2Z2.whereListhepicolylgroupandZisahydrate.FromextendedX-rayabsorptionfinestructure(EXAFS)analysis,bondlengthsformetal-chlorineandmetal-ligandofPUPYMaresimilartothoseofsmallmolecularweighttransitionmetalcomplexes.Atwo-phasemodelofPUPYMwhichbestdescribestheexperimentaldataofDMTAandSAXS.isproposed.Onemicrophaseistheharddomainofselfsegregatedhaedsegmentsbroughtaboutbymetal-ligandinteraction.andtheotherphaseisthematrixofsoftsegments.Transitionmetalion-ligandmoietiesandtheirinteractionsdominatethemacroscopicthermalbehaviorofPUPYM.Theligandfieldstabilizationenergydifference(ΔLFSE)betweenmteald-electronsincomplexeswithtwopicolylligandsinthecoordinationsphereofmetalionsandcomplexesmaintainingonepicolylligandascoordinationpendentgroupiscalculatedonthebasisofobservedcoordinationstructure,anditrepresentstheenergysuppliedtosplitcoordinationcross-links.ΔLFSEofpolyurethanenickel(II)complexislargerthanthatofthecobalt(II)complex,Sincethemobilityofhardsegmentsisininverseproportiontothestrengthofcoordinationcross-links.ahigherα-transitiontemperatureofPUPYNi^2+withrespecttoPUPYCo^2+isfoundasexpected.

  • 简介:Interactionsofpolyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)withmetalchlorides(MgCl2,CaCl2,KC1andBaC12)havebeeninvestigatedbyviscometricandspectrophotometrictechniquesinaqueoussolutions.Intrinsicviscosity[η]of(PVP)hasshownadiscontinuitywithvaryingconcentrationofmetalchlorides.ThedecreasingorderofeffectivenessofcationisK1+>Ca2+>Mg2+>Ba2+forpoly(vinylpyrrolidone)solution.ChangesintheabsorptionspectraofthecosoluteswereobservedinthepresenceofPVPinthelowerlimitoftheUV-visibleregioni.e.200-210nm.ThesechangeswereattributedtointeractionofPVPmoleculeswiththecosolutemolecules.Astheconcentrationofthecosoluteincreased,aredshiftinthepeakswasobserved,indicatinganincreaseininteractionbetweenPVPandcosolutes.

  • 简介:Cu,Zn,PbandHgrunofffroyellowlimestonesoilandpurplesoilsandthereltaionshipsbetewwnthemobilityoftheheavymetalsandthesoilcharactheristicswerestudiedinlaboratoryusingarainfallsimulator.TheresultsshowedthattheconcentrationsofsolubleZninsurfacerunoffweresignifcantlynegaivelycorrelatedwiththecontentsof<0.002mmparticlesndCECofthesoils,indicatingthatZnwasmostlyadsorbedbyclaysinthesoils.THecontentsofCuandHginsurfacerunoffwerepositivelyrelatedtotheircontentsinthesoils.TheamountsofCu,Zn,Pb,andHgRemovedbysurfacerunoffwereinfluencedbytheamountsofsoilandwaterlossesandtheircontentsinthesoilsandwerecloselyrelatedtothecontentsofsoilparticles1-0.02mminsize.

  • 简介:TheinteractionsbetweenmetalionssuchasZn2+,Pb2+,Mn2+,Hg2+,Cd2+,Ni2+andchitosanhavebeeninvestigatedusingthemodelclustermodelmethodanddensityfunctionalmethod.FulloptimizationandfrequencyanalysisofallclustermodelshavebeenperformedemployingB3LYPhybridmethodat3-21Gbasissetlevelexceptmetalionswhichwereinvokedtouseeffectivecorepotential(ECP)method.Theenergychanges,andthemainstructuralparametershavebeenobtainedduringthetheoreticalstudyoftheadsorptionofmetalionsonthechitosan.Thecalculationsshowedthatthecoordinationmodesofmetalionswithchitosanmodelsweredifferent,thegeometriesofMn2+,Zn2+,Cd2+,Hg2+,Pb2+ionscoordinatedwithtwonitrogenatomsandtwooxygenatomsweredistortedtetrahedral,whilethesquareplanarstructureofNi2+coordinatedtwonitrogenatomsandtwooxygenatomswasobserved.Theheatofreactionbetweensixmetalionsandchitosanmodelsshowedtheorder:Mn2+>Ni2+>Zn2+>Pb2+>Hg2+>Cd2+,thissuggestedthatthecoordinationstrengthofMn2+>Ni2+>Zn2+>Pb2+>Hg2+>Cd2+.
