简介：Thispaperdiscussesaglobalcollaborationonoceanpollutionbetweentwoscienceclassrooms:OneisintheSoutheasternChinaandtheotherisintheSouthwesternUnitedStates(US).Theprimarygoalofthisproject-basedlearning(PBL)collaborationwasforstudentstoexplorethecontent-relatedconceptsofoceanpollutionandtoconductresearchonoceanicwaterqualitywhenpollutedwithtrash.Theprojectwasdesignedtoprovideparticipantsacross-culturalenvironmentforunderstandingadiffuseglobalenvironmentalissuebydevelopingstudents’globallearning(i.e.,globalawarenessandglobalcompetencies)andsustainability.Studentsreportedtheyvaluedglobalcollaborationandgainedskillsofcriticalthinking,andteachersreportedthatlanguageandtechnologywerepremiertoolsforglobalcollaborationwhichprovidestudentsanopportunitytogetasenseofworldwideecologicalcommunity.Thiscollaborationprovidesinsighttohowcross-culturalPBLexperiencesmaybeasuccessfulstrategyforpromotinghighschoolstudents’awarenessandconsequencesofglobalenvironmentalissues.
