  • 简介:AnM8.1earthquakethatoccurredwestoftheKunlunMountainsPasshascausedmorethan20collapsebodiesorzones,whicharemainlydistributednearthesurfaceseismicrupturezone,westofHohSaiLake.Thecollapsesareoffourtypes,bedrock,soilmassandicemasscollapsesandavalanches.Thespatialdistributionandthecharacteristicsofdevelopmentofthecollapsesareanalyzedinthepaper.Comparisedwiththosecausedbyotherearthquakes,thecollapsesaresmallerinscale.Inadditiontothelithologicalcharacteristicsofthecrustalmedia,topographic,geomorphicandclimaticfactors,weakerseismicgroundmotionisanimportantcauseforformationofthesmaller-scalecollapses.Thelongsurfacerupturezoneandweakergroundmotionareimportantfeaturesoftheseismicrupture,whichmayberelatedtothestructureofthepreexistingfault.

  • 简介:TheTianqiaogou-Huangyangchuanfaultlieseastofthemainpeak,LenglonglingMount,intheeastpartoftheQilianMountainsandisoneofthemajoractivefaultsontheeasternsectionoftheQilianMountains.ThefaultisseparatedintotwosegmentsatGuanjiataivillage,theeasternandwesternsegments,andhasundergoneobviousmovementsincetheHolocene.Sixtrencheswereexcavatedtostudythepaleoseismicactivityalongthefault.Integratedandcomparativeanalysisofsedimentsinthetrenchesreveals7paleoseismiceventsandahistoricearthquakeonthefaultsincetheHolocene.Theiragesare:eventⅠis(10743±343)aBP,eventⅡ(9038±39)aBP,eventⅢ(7050±577)aBP,eventⅣ(4847±185)aBP,eventⅤ(3562±190)aBP,eventⅥ(2476±194)aBP,andeventⅦ(1505±253),respectively,andeventⅧisthe1927GulangMs8.0earthquake.Itindicatesthatthefaultmighthavecontributedtothe1927GulangMs8.0earthquake.Thetemporalandspatialdistributionofthepaleoseismiceventsisrelativelyuniformandischaracterizedapproximatelybyaquasiperiodicrecurrence.

  • 简介:Thethin-skinnedstructureinthecrustofthenorthernTianshanpiedmontisexploredbyan86-km-long,NS-trendingdeepseismicreflectionprofilethroughtheürümqidepressionofthenorthmarginoftheTianshanmoun-tains.OntheCDPstackingsection,thefirst-andsecond-rowparalleltoanticlinesinthenorthmarginoftheTian-shanmountainsareshownonthesegmenttothesouthoftheShihezi.Thedetachments,correspondingtothereflectioneventsatTWT2.5~3.0sand5.5~6.0srespectively,jointhecrustaldeepstructuretothereversefault-foldzone.TheManasthrustextendsdownwardsinlistricshape,mergesintothedetachmentataboutTWT2.5sandjoinstotheQingshuihethrust.Thereflectioneventson5.5~6.0sarecorrespondingtothemaindetachment,whichjoinsthelowerManasanticline,andfinallyconvergetotheJunggarSouthernMarginalFault.A12~14km-thicksedimentarybasinexistsontheregioninthenorthtotheShihezi.ThedepthoftheMohodiscontinuitybe-neaththeJunggarbasinisabout45km,andincreasessouthwardsto50km.ThecrustalstructureinferredfromthedeepseismicsoundingprofileandtheBougueranomalyinthesameregionisconsistentwiththeimagefromthedeepseismicreflectionprofile.Theseismogenicmodelofthe1906Manasearthquakeisrelatedtothefaultsystem,whichconsistsoftheQingshuihethrust,thedetachmentsandtheshallowManasramp.

  • 简介:TheinvestigationondamagestofrozensoilsitesduringtheWestKunlunMountainsPassearthquakewithMs8.1in2001showsthatthefrozensoilintheseismicareaiscomposedmainlyofmoraine,alluvialdeposit,diluvialdepositandlacustrinedepositwiththedepthvaryinggreatlyalongtheearthquakerupturezone.Thedeformationandruptureoffrozensoilsitesaremainlyintheformofcoseismicfracturezonescausedbytectonicmotionandfissures,liquefaction,seismicsubsidenceandcollapseresultingfromgroundmotion.Theearthquakefracturezonesonthesurfacearemainbrittledeformations,which,undertheeffectofsinistralstrike-slipmovement,arerepresentedbyshearfissures,tensionalcracksandcompressivebulges.Thedistributionandconfigurationpatternsofdeformationandrupturesuchasfissures,liquefaction,seismicsubsidenceandlandslidesareallrelatedtotheambientrockandsoilconditionsoftheearthquakearea.Thedistributionofearthquakedamageischaracterizedbylarge-scalerupturezones,rapidintensityattenuationalongtheQinghai-Xizang(Tibet)Highway,wherebuildingsdistributeandpredominanteffectofrockandsoilconditions.
