Analysis of the causes of the outer surface folding defects in N80-Q oil country tubular goods

ThecausestotheoutersurfacefoldingdefectsinN80-Qoilcountrytubulargoods(OCTG)wereinvestigatedthroughtheobservationofthedefects’morphology,microstructureandtheanalysisofthechemicalcompositions.Itisbelievedthatthedefectwasresultedfromtheintrinsicflawsthatoriginallyexistedonthebillet;theywereextendedandoxidizedduringthefollowingreheatingandrollingprocesses.Withmorestrictqualitycontrolandinspectionofthebillet,thedefectcanbepreventedeffectivelyfromoccurring.
