Thereisawidespreadinterestinleadtelluride(PbTe)asagoodthermoelectricmaterial.WereportthetemperaturedependenceofthermopowerS(T)andresistanceR(T)forPbTeatthedifferentpressuresoffrom1.8GPato5GPaobtainedbyusingthecubicanvilhighpressureapparatus.Withincreasingpressure,R(T)andS(T)decrease.TheeffectofpressureonR(T)islargerthanthatonS(T).Thepowerfactorthatisdeterminedbythermopowerandresistivityincreaseswithincreasingpressure.Thismethodisanefficienttoolforsynthesizinggoodthermoelectricmaterialsathighpressureandhightemperature.
