Partitioning,Automation and Error Recovery in the Control and Monitoring System of an LHC Experiment

TheJointControlsProject(JCOP)isacollaborationbetweenCERNandthefourLHCexperimentstofindandimplementcommonsolutionsfortheircontrolandmonitoringsystems.AspartofthisprojectandArchitectureWorkingGroupwassetupinordertostudytherequirementsanddeviseanarchitecturalmodelthatwouldsuitthefourexperiments.Manyissueswerestudiedbythisworkinggroup:Alarmhandling,AccessControl,HierarchicalControl,etc.Thispaperwillreportonthespecificissueofhierarchicalcontrolandinparticularpartitioning,automationanderrorrecovery.
