Improvementonextinctionandpollutionemissionhavebecomeoneofthemostprominentresearchtopicsingasturbine.Itiswidelyrecognizedthatthefuel/airmixturedistributionintherecirculationzoneisacriticalfactorinimprovingleanblow-out(LBO)andignition.Thispaperproposedanewlowemissionschemewithfuelstagedcentrallyandhybridinjectortoimproveflameoutandemission.Arelativesmallamountoffuelentersintocentralpilotairblastatomizerburnerandthenatomizedbyinnerswirlair.Theremainingmajorityoffuelisdirectlyinjectedintovanechannelsoftheprimaryswirlerthroughaseriesofholeslocatedonthesidewallofthemainstage.Onlypilotstageisfueledunderignitionandleanflameoutcondition.Theuniformityoffuel/airmixturedistributionintheprimaryzoneofthenewdesigndecreasesNOXemission,meanwhilethefuelairmixtureinpilotrecirculationzoneislocallyrichtoimproveflameoutandignition.Experimentalinvestigationwasconductedtocomparethenewschemewithbaselinedesignofdual-swirlerintermsofLBOandignitioncharacteristicsunderthesameconditioninamulti-sectorcombustor.Itisfoundthatthefuel-airratioofignitionlimitandLBOdecreasewiththereferencevelocityincreasing.Theexperimentalresultsalsoshowthatthenewschemesuccessfullyimproveleanblow-outandbroadentheoperationrangeofthecombustor.Theexperimentalresultsindicatedthatthecentrallystagedschemecanwidentheoperationboundaryofthecombustorandcanprovideguidancefordesignandoptimizationofcombustionchamber.
