ThisstudyconcernssecurityissuesoftheemergingWirelessBodySensorNetwork(WBSN)formedbybiomedicalsensorswornonorimplantedinthehumanbodyformobilehealthcareappli-cations.Anovelauthenticatedsymmetric-keyestablishmentschemeisproposedforWBSN,whichfullyexploitsthephysiologicalfeaturesobtainedbynetworkentitiesviathebodychannelavailableinWBSNbutnototherwirelessnetworks.Theself-definedIntrinsicSharedSecret(ISS)isusedtoreplacethepre-deploymentofsecretsamongnetworkentities,whichthuseliminatescentralizedservicesorau-thoritiesessentialinexistingprotocols,andresolvesthekeytransportprobleminthepuresymmet-ric-keycryptosystemforWBSNaswell.Thesecuritypropertiesoftheproposedschemearedemon-stratedintermsofitsattackcomplexityandthetypesofattacksitcanresist.Besides,theschemecanbeimplementedunderalight-weightwayinWBSNsystems.DuetotheimportanceoftheISSconcept,theanalysisonusingfalseacceptance/falserejectionmethodtoevaluatetheperformanceofISSforitsusageintheschemeisalsodemonstrated.
