TheablativeRichtmyer–Meshkovinstability(ARMI)iscrucialtothesuccessfulignitionimplosionoftheinertialconfinementfusion(ICF)becauseofitsactionastheseedoftheRayleigh–Taylorinstability.InusualICFimplosions,thefirstshockdrivenbyvariousfootsofthepulsesplaysacentralroleintheARMIgrowth.WeproposeanewschemeforrefrainingfromARMIwithapulseofsuccessivepickets.Withthesuccessive-picketpulsedesign,arippledcapsulesurfaceiscompressedbythreesuccessiveshockswithsequentiallystrengtheningintensitiesandablatedstabilization,andtheablativeRichtmyer–Meshkovgrowthismitigatedquiteeffectively.Ournumericalsimulationsandtheoreticalanalysesidentifythevalidityofthisscheme.
