TopicsofcurrentinterestInthelastissueofthisjournal“ELECTRICITY,CSEE”areportwaspresentedontheInternationalConferenceonPowerSystemTech-nology’91wherespecialistsfrom15countriesweregatheredtogethertodiscusstopicsofcommoninterest.Severaloutstandingproblemsdeservespecialreport.Forinstance,thegreenhouseproblemwasreportedinthisissueunderthecolumnofpowerandenvironment.Theoperator’strainingsimulatorisreportedinaspecialarticleinthisissue.Sinceaseriesoflargescaleblackoutsoccurredinseveralcountries,particularlythe1977NewYorkCityblackout,peoplerealizedthatoperatorsinthemodemfullycomputerizedandautomatedcontrolcenterneedconstantpracticeonasimulator,sothattheycanbefullypreparedtohandlesuddenattacksofseveredisturbances.Thecurrentprob-lemsandviewsfromseveralcountriestakingpartinthepaneldiscussionwerereportedinthisissue.Somenewtechniquesattractingmuchattentionfromresearchersinthefieldofpowersystemtechnology,suchasfuzzysystems,ExpertSystems,ArtificialNeuralNetworksandPetriNetswerediscussedtoquitesomeextentinthisconference.Theyarealsoreportedinthisissue.Morespecialsubjectswillbereportedinlaterissues.(Ed.)
