Aninnovativefloatingmooringsystemwithtwoormoreindependentfloatingmooringplatformsinthemiddleandonerigidplatformoneachsideisproposedforimprovingefficiencyandsafetyinshallowwater.Forthisnewsystem,mostofcollisionenergyisabsorbedthroughthedisplacementoffloatingplatforms.Inordertoillustratethevalidityofthesystem,aseriesofmodeltestswereconductedatascaleof1:40.Thecoupledmotioncharacteristicsofthefloatingmooringplatformswerediscussedunderregularandirregularwaves,andtheinfluencesofwavedirectionandothercharacteristicsondynamicresponseofthesystemwereanalyzed.Theresultsshowthatthemooringsystemissafestat0°ofwaveincidentangle,whereasthemostdangerousmooringstateoccursat90°ofwaveincidentangle.Motionresponsesincreasewiththeincreaseofwaveheight,butarenotlinearlyrelatedtochangesinwaveheight.
