Thispaperpresentstheresultsofaluminumsurfacetreatmentbydiffusecoplanarsurfacebarrierdischarge.Thegoalsaretostudytheeffectivenessoftheplasmatreatmentandthedependenceofitsefficiencyonoperationparameters,suchassample-to-electrodedistance,treatmenttimeorgasatmosphere.Threetypesofaluminummaterials(bricks,sheetsandthinfilms)weretestedtoensurethereliabilityofthetreatment.Thechangesinthesurfacepropertieswerecharacterizedbythesurfacefreeenergy,atomicforcemicroscopy,attenuatedtotalreflectanceFouriertransforminfraredspectroscopy(ATRFTIR)andX-rayphotoelectronspec-troscopy(XPS).Theinfluenceofagingeffectonthetreatmentwasalsomeasuredanddiscussed.
