Fabrication and ultraviolet-shielding properties of silica-coated titania-doped ceria nanoparticles

摘要 Aseriesofwell-dispersedtitania-dopedceriananoparticlesCe1-xTixO2wererapidlypreparedbyanovelsalt-assistedsolutioncombustionprocessusingcorrespondentmetalnitratesasoxidizersandethylglycolasfuel,andthencoatedwithamorphoussilicabyseededpolymerizationusingtetraethylorthoslicate(TEOS).Theas-preparedsampleswerecharacterizedbytransmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM),X-raydiffraction(XRD),Fourier-transforminfraredspectroscopy(FTIR),andultraviolet-visiblelight(UV-Vis)diffusereflectancespectroscopy.Theresultsindicatedthatcomparedwiththeas-preparedpureceriananoparticles,thered-shiftphenomenonoccurredforTi-dopedceriananoparticleswithTiincorporation.Meanwhile,theabsorptionintensityintheUVlightregionslightlydecreasedandtransmissionrateinvisiblelightregionwassomewhatenhanced.Incomparisonwiththesilica-coatedCeO2nanopowders,thesilica-coatedCe0.95Ti0.05O2nanopowdersdisplayedthesameabsorptionintensityintheUVlightregion,broaderUVabsorptionbandandhighertransmissionrateinvisiblelightregion.
