Design procedure for photonic crystal fibers with ultra-flattened chromatic dispersion

摘要 Asimpledesignprocedureisusedtogeneratephotoniccrystalfibers(PCFs)withultra-flattenedchromaticdispersion.Onlyfourparametersarerequired,whichnotonlyconsiderablysavesthecomputingtime,butalsodistinctlyreducestheair-holequantity.Theinfluenceoftheair-holediametersofeachringofhexagonalPCFs(H-PCF,including1-hole-missingand7-hole-missingH-PCFs),circularPCFs(C-PCF),squarePCFs(S-PCF),andoctagonalPCFs(O-PCF)isinvestigatedthroughsimulations.ResultsshowthatregardlessofthecrosssectionstructuresofthePCFs,the1stringair-holediameterhasthegreatestinfluenceonthedispersioncurvefollowedbythatofthe2ndring.The3rdringdiameteronlyaffectsthedispersioncurvewithinlongerwavelengths,whereasthe4thand5thringshavealmostnoinfluenceonthedispersioncurve.Thehole-to-holepitchbetweenringschangesthedispersioncurveasawhole.Basedonthesimulationresults,aprocedureisproposedtodesignPCFswithultra-flatteneddispersion.Throughtheadjustmentofair-holediametersoftheinnerthreeringsandhole-to-holepitch,aflatteneddispersionof0±0.5ps/(nm·km)withinawavelengthrangeof1.239–2.083μmfor5-ring1-hole-missingH-PCF,1.248–1.992μmfor5-ringC-PCF,1.237–2.21μmfor5-ringS-PCF,1.149–1.926μmfor5-ringO-PCF,and1.294–1.663μmfor7-hole-missingH-PCFisachieved.
