摘要
Thetransmissionpropertiesofdouble-ringsplitringresonator(SRR)arraysandclosedringresonatorarraysaremeasuredusingterahertz(THz)time-domainspectroscopy.Thistechniqueallowsforthesimultaneousmeasurementoftheamplitudeandphaseofthetransmissioncoefficientasafunctionoffrequency.Theabilitytodirectlymeasurethephasespectrumisexpectedtobeimportantincharacterizingpotentialnegativeindexmedia.Intheemployedexperimentalgeometry,THzpulsesarenormallyincidentonthearrays.Thus,themagneticfieldliesintheplaneofthearraysandcannotcontributetothemagneticresonanceoftheSRR.However,itisfoundthattheelectricfield,whenappropriatelypolarized,cancoupletothemagneticresonance.ShiftsintheresonancepropertieswithchangesintheSRRdimensionsandthesubstratemediumaremeasured,theresultsofwhichareconsistentwiththeory.
