摘要
Thispaperdiscusestheinseparabilityofcultureandlanguage,presentsthreenewmetaphorsregardingcultureandlanguage,andexploresculturalcontentinspecificlanguageitemsthroughasurveyofwordassociations.ThesurveyhasbeendesignedforbothChineseEnglishspeakers(CES)andnativeEnglishspeakers(NES)(SeeAppendix).Theassociatedwordsandexpressionsarelanguageforms:thefree,naturalassociationsinvolvethinking.Boththelanguageformsandthethinkingprocesscon-veyculture.ThewordsandexpressionsassociatedbyCESandNESarepartlysimilarandpartlydif-ferent,becausepeoplearebynaturealikeandCESandNEShavedifferentcultures.
