摘要
Nanomaterialspossessintriguingopticalpropertiesthatdependsensitivelyonsize,shape,andmaterialcontentofthestructures.Controllingsuchstructuralcharacteristicsofthenanostructuresallowsthetailoringoftheirphysicalandchemicalproperties,e.g.optical,electronic,andcatalytic,toachievewhatisdesiredforspecificapplicationsofinterest.Thisreviewwillcoverthedevelopmentofvariousshapesforsilverandgoldnanomaterialswithemphasisontheirrelationtoopticalproperties.Examplesofvariousmodernsyntheticmethodsandcharacterizationtechniquesarehighlighted.Theinfluenceofthemetalnanomaterial'sshapeandopticalabsorptiononsurfaceenhancedRamanscattering(SERS)andafinalnoteonnewemergingapplicationsofmetalnanostructuresarealsodiscussed.
