Changes of pulmonary intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and CD11b/CD18 in peripheral polymorphonuclear neutrophils and their significance at the early stage of burns

摘要 Objective:Toinvestigatetheroleofintercellularadhesionmolecule-1(ICAM-1)intheaccumulationofpolymorphonuclearneutrophils(PMN)inthelungsattheearlystageofburns.Methods:Myeloperoxidasecontentinlungtissuesandbronchoalveolarlavagefluid(BALF)weredetected.ICAM-1anditsmRNAexpressioninlungtissuesweredeterminedbyimmunohistochemicalmethodandinsituhybridization.CD11b/CD18expressionontheperipheralPMNswasmeasuredbyflowcytometry.Results:ThelevelsofmyeloperoxidaseinlungtissuesandBALFafterburninjuryweremarkedlyhigherthanthoseofcontrol.ExpressionofICAM-1anditsmRNAinthelungtissuesandCD11b/CD18onperipheralPMNssurfacewassignificantlyincreasedat2,6,12,24hafterburns.Conclusions:PMNsaccumulationinthelungsisrelatedtoincreasedICAM-1expressiononpulmonarymicrovascularendothelialcellsandCD11b/CD18expressiononPMNattheearlystageofburninjury.
