摘要
Urbanization,rural-to-urbanmigration,industrializationandmodernizationhaveresultedintheerosionoftraditionalfamily,communityandkinnetworksindifferentregionsoftheworld.ContemporarysocietiesintheEast,West,NorthandSouthareundergoingabreakdownofsocialcohesion.Especiallyinurbanenvironments,care-givingforchildren,thefrailandtheelderlyisinawkwardsituation.Asagrassrootsresponsetotheseglobalissues,MotherCentreshavebeenbuiltupin16countriesintheworldtosupportfamilies,especiallypoorfamilies,ofmanyethnicbackgrounds,inprovidingawiderangeofclosetohomeservicesaswellashelpingtheparentstodevelopsurvivalskills.
