摘要
Adsorptionofphenol,catecholandresorcinol,whichvaryintheirabilitytointeractwiththeadsorbentthroughhydrogenbond,wereusedtoinvestigatetheadsorptionmechanisticinteraction.Theadsorptionenthalpiesoftheabovementionedcompoundontotheadsorbentwerecalculatedandthermodynamicanalysiswascarriedout.Theresultsshowedtheadsorbentwiththelowestadsorptionenthalpiesforthesorbatesuchascatecholwithintermolecularhydrogenbondalsodisplaythelowestadsorptionaffinity.Ontheotherhand,themoreofthegroupsavailableforhydrogenbondinteraction,thehigheroftheadsorptionaffinity.Theseobservationssupportthecontentionthatphenoladsorptionisdrivenpredominantlybyspecificinteractionofthesolutewithactivesitesonthesurfaceoftheadsorbent.
