ADSORPTION OF PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS ONTO THE SPHERICAL MACROPOROUS ADSORBENT BASED ON UREA—FORMALDEHYDE CONDENSED POLYMER

摘要 Adsorptionofphenol,catecholandresorcinol,whichvaryintheirabilitytointeractwiththeadsorbentthroughhydrogenbond,wereusedtoinvestigatetheadsorptionmechanisticinteraction.Theadsorptionenthalpiesoftheabovementionedcompoundontotheadsorbentwerecalculatedandthermodynamicanalysiswascarriedout.Theresultsshowedtheadsorbentwiththelowestadsorptionenthalpiesforthesorbatesuchascatecholwithintermolecularhydrogenbondalsodisplaythelowestadsorptionaffinity.Ontheotherhand,themoreofthegroupsavailableforhydrogenbondinteraction,thehigheroftheadsorptionaffinity.Theseobservationssupportthecontentionthatphenoladsorptionisdrivenpredominantlybyspecificinteractionofthesolutewithactivesitesonthesurfaceoftheadsorbent.
