Tunable magneto-optical polarization device for terahertz waves based on InSb and its plasmonic structure

摘要 ThenonreciprocalcirculardichroismandFaradayrotationeffectforterahertz(THz)wavesinlongitudinallymagnetizedInSbwereinvestigatedbytheoreticalandexperimentalstudiesintheTHzregime,whichindicateditsabilityforaTHzcircularlypolarizedisolator,THzcircularpolarizer,tunablepolarizationconverter,andpolarizationmodulatorbymanipulationofdifferentmagneticfields.Furthermore,wedemonstratedtheInSbplasmonicsbasedonitsmagneto-opticaleffectscombinedwithartificialmicrostructure.Wefoundthemagnetoopticalenhancementmechanismsinthismagneto-plasmonicstructure,achievingbroadbandnear-perfectorthogonallinearpolarizationconversionmodulatedbytheweakmagneticfieldinanexperimentwithanextinctionratioof33dB.Moreover,themagneto-opticalmodulationwithanamplitudemodulationdepthof95.8%canbeachievedbythisdeviceunderaweakmagneticfieldof150mT.InSbanditsmagneto-plasmonicdevicehavebroadpotentialforaTHzisolator,magneto-opticalmodulator,andpolarizationconvertorinTHzapplicationsystems.
