Endothelial progenitor cells as a therapeutic option in intracerebral hemorrhage-中国期刊网

摘要 Intracerebralhemorrhage(ICH)isthemostseverecerebrovasculardisease,whichrepresentsaleadingcauseofdeathanddisabilityindevelopedcountries.However,therapeuticoptionsarelimited,soismandatorytoinvestigaterepairingprocessesafterstrokeinordertodevelopnewtherapeuticstrategiesabletopromotebrainrepairprocesses.TherapeuticangiogenesisandvasculogenesisholdpromisetoimproveoutcomeofICHpatients.Inthisregard,circulatingendothelialprogenitorcells(EPCs)haverecentlybeensuggestedtobeamarkerofvascularriskandendothelialfunction.Moreover,EPClevelshavebeenassociatedwithgoodneurologicalandfunctionaloutcomeaswellasreducedresidualhematomavolumeinICHpatients.Finally,experimentalandclinicalstudiesindicatethatEPCmightmediateendothelialcellregenerationandneovascularization.Therefore,EPC-basedtherapycouldbeanexcellenttherapeuticoptioninICH.Inthismini-review,wediscussthepresentstatusofknowledgeaboutthepossibletherapeuticroleofEPCsinICH,molecularmechanisms,andthefutureperspectivesandstrategiesfortheiruseinclinicalpractice.
