摘要
Theappriximationpropertiesofgeneralizedconiccurvesarestudiedinthispaper.Ageneralizedconiccurveisdefinedasoneofthefollowingcurvesortheiraffineandtranslatione-quivalentcurves:(i)coniccurvesiincludingparabolas,hyperbolasandellipses;(ii)generalizedmonomialcurves,includingcurvesoftheformx=yr,.rR.r=0,1,inthex-yCartesiancoordinatesystem;(iii)exponentialspiralcurvesoftheformp=Apolarcoordinatesystem.Thistypeofcurveshasmanyimportantpropertiessuchasconvexity,approximationproperty,effectivenumericalcomputationpropertyandthesubdivisionpropertyetc.Applicationsofthesecurvesinbothinterpolationandapproximationsusingpiecewisegeneralizedconicsegmentarealsodeveloped.Itisshownthatthesegeneralizedconicsplinesareverysimilartothecubicpolynomialsplinesandthebesterrorofapproximationisoratleastingeneralprovidedappropriateproceduresareused.Finallysomenumericalexamplesofinterpolationandappro
