摘要
Concentrationsoforganicmatter,ironandmanganeseinthedeepseasurfacesedimentsintheNanshaIslandsseaarea,SouthChinaSeaaremeasured.Horizontalandverticaldistributionsofironandmanganesearediscussed.Theverticaldistributionofironandmanganeseinthesedimentsresultsfromreduction,diffusion,andredepositionofmanganese(oriron)oxideandhydroxideinthesediment.Therearethemaximaofironandmanganeseinsolidphaseinthetopofthesediment,whichiscausedbythepenetrationofO2andtheupwardfluxofMn2+(orFe2+).Manganesebacteriaplayaveryimportantroleinthecycleofsolid-phaseironandmanganeseintheoceanenvironment.ManganesebacteriaoxidizeMn2+(orFe2+)indissolvedstatetoMn4+(orFe3+)inoxidizedstateundertheaerobiccondition,whereastheyreduceironandmanganeseinanaerobicconditions.
