摘要
Ionization-inducedelectroninjectioninlaserwakefieldaccelerators,whichwasrecentlyproposedtolowerthelaserintensitythresholdforelectrontrappingintothewakewave,hasthedrawbackofgeneratingelectronbeamswithlargeandcontinuousenergyspreads,severelylimitingtheirfutureapplications.Complextargetdesignsbasedonseparatingtheelectrontrappingandaccelerationstageswereproposedastheonlywayforgettingsmallenergy-spreadelectronbeams.Here,basedontheself-truncatedionization-injectionconceptwhichrequirestheuseofunmatchedlaser–plasmaparametersandbyusingtensofTWlaserpulsesfocusedontoagasjetofheliummixedwithlowconcentrationsofnitrogen,wedemonstratesingle-stagelaserwakefieldaccelerationofmulti-hundredMeVelectronbuncheswithenergyspreadsofafewpercent.TheexperimentalresultsareverifiedbyPICsimulations.
